Presented by: Dr Robyn Staveley & Carol Richards
This workshop is for anyone who is interested in deeply understanding an Orff approach to teaching and learning about music.
Over many years, Dr Carol Richards has analysed the Orff volumes and identified the themes and threads that trace the history of Western music, but importantly, how these make musical learning simple, accessible and doable for all learners. The learning will occur in true Orff style through a series of activities using Orff techniques and repertoire appropriate for classrooms.
Dr Robyn Staveley will then link how an Orff approach to learning is underpinned in cognitive neuroscience. All brains learn best when the foundation of their knowledge is based on active, personal experiences, working from simple structures layered into complex, connected forms. At the end of this session, participants will have a grounding for research-based practice in music education.
