The theme for NAIDOC 2022 is ‘Get up, stand up, show up!’
This year, the music specialists (along with their LOTE specialist) at Aubin Grove Primary have choreographed a simple scarf dance to share with their whole school community to help them celebrate NAIDOC week.
Each year, the staff and students at Aubin Grove gather together in their meeting place to dance and sing to celebrate and honour their place, people, land and heart. Their “Nidja, Noongar, Boodja, Koort.”
Ash, Vanessa and Yvette are happy to share their scarf dance with us this year in case you may wish to use it for your NAIDOC week celebrations. It’s fun, simple, easy to use and helps to spread the message of this year’s theme. Get up, stand up and show up…to share our Aboriginal and Indigenous heritage and culture. Show one another that our people’s history is strong, their voice counts and their culture is what makes this country a beautiful place to belong.
Many thanks to the AGPS teachers for sharing their dance with us this year.
Many thanks to Yothu Yindi for sharing such wonderful music with First Nations and Australian communities.
