This session will play and experiment with finding musical answers to formulas, culminating in recognising the formula in a contemporary musical work.

Experience songs, rhythms, and dances from Native American, West African, Brazilian, Hawaiian, and Cuban cultures. This session will explore ways to integrate musical themes into cognitive, emotional, and social goals and objectives.

 
Our Voice: Variety of Expression and Creation

Beginning with communicating a children's song, we then gradually will activate our sense of hearing by developing qualities of different parameters: pitch, tempo, dynamics. Finally we apply our experiences to a song introduction.

The Seven Swans

Through the story of The Seven Swans, this session 'weaves' a composition in seven beat metre. Exploration will be through vocalising, moving and playing, making a composition in rich textures of motifs and melodies.

Introduction of a Five-Part-Canon Through Different Methods

A nonsense text will be interpreted in all sorts of moods, in communication and interaction. Selected words and sung pitches are used to build a cluster sound. Melody will be learned as a sort of ostinato-building (gradual erection), included solo singing. Common creation of a dance form for the song.
